New York sports betting is certainly feeling the effects of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Key Takeaways

  • Driven by the World Cup, New York’s online sportsbooks surpassed $500 million in wagers for the third consecutive week.
  • Operators made 22% more revenue than in the previous week.
  • FanDuel and DraftKings both produced high holds on big handles.

The Empire State’s eight online operators generated a $512.5-million handle during the week ending June 28, a 46.6% increase from the same period in 2025, according to the New York State Gaming Commission’s report. The week was fueled by 33 group-stage matches, including USA-Turkiye, and one round-of-32 game between Canada and South Africa.

The latest reported week did experience a 7% week-over-week dip in dollars wagered, but it’s still the third consecutive week that online wagering has eclipsed $500 million in the most lucrative sports betting state in the U.S. Last summer, only one June week produced a $400-million handle.

Multiple sportsbooks have reported record-setting soccer wagering involving U.S. matches, and for the most part, the public has done well. That was not the case in the latest reported week.

Major profits

With the help of the highly bet U.S. team losing 3-2 to Turkiye on June 25 and the squad’s two most popular goalscorers failing to find the net, New York sports betting operators produced a 12.1% hold that led to $61.8 million in gross revenue, the single most-profitable week in New York in nearly two months.

Profits were up 22% compared to the previous week. Operators have hauled in more than $112 million over the last two weeks, making up for the $48.5-million loss they suffered the week the New York Knicks clinched the NBA title.

FanDuel, DraftKings shine

DraftKings was a major beneficiary of the big-wagering week, generating a state-best $187.3 million. The online operator’s 11.1% win rate produced $20.8 million in gross revenue, a $5 million improvement from the previous week and the most profitable period since the week ending May 10.

FanDuel had an even bigger revenue week, thanks to a whopping 14.4% hold that produced $25.7 million in profits on a $178.4-million handle. FanDuel’s revenue was up $1 million from the previous week, despite generating nearly $20 million less in wagers.

BetMGM, Caesars reach double digits

BetMGM turned in the second-best win rate for the week ending June 28 in New York, reaching 13.3% on a $34.3-million handle. Caesars won back 11.1% on $29.6 million in wagers, while BetRivers was the last operator to get to 10%.

Fanatics nearly generated $60 million in bets, the third-highest, and finished the week with an 8.8% hold, while both theScore Bet and Bally recorded win rates of at least 9.5%.
