Sweepstakes Casino Monthly Update June 2026: Operators Exit Indiana Ahead of Ban

Sweepstakes casinos accelerated their withdrawal from several U.S. states during June, with Indiana emerging as the industry’s primary focus ahead of its July 1 prohibition.

While sweepstakes casino legislation slowed during June, operators remained busy preparing for new state restrictions. As Indiana and Maine’s bans approach their July effective dates, many platforms updated their restricted-state lists or announced plans to withdraw from those markets.

Indiana (July 1 Ban)

Since Gambling Insider‘s May update, the biggest trend in June was operators preparing for Indiana’s July 1 sweepstakes casino ban. Many platforms, including major operators, updated their terms or notified players that sweepstakes gameplay would end in the state.

Operators adding Indiana during June:

  • B-Two: McLuck, Hello Millions, PlayFame, and SpinBlitz announced Indiana’s exit effective July 1. Mega Bonanza and Jackpota already exited the state.
  • Blazesoft (Fortune Wins, Zula, Sportzino, Yay Casino, American Luck, Luck Party, Win Bonanza)
  • Modo
  • High 5 Casino
  • Punt
  • Chanced
  • Funzpoints
  • Baba Casino
  • Spree
  • Ace
  • Peak Play
  • LuckyBits Vegas
  • Lavish Luck
  • Rune Wager

Maine (July 15 Ban)

Maine was another state that was increasingly being added to restricted territories lists ahead of its July 15 ban effective date.

  • Yellow Social (Pulsz, Pulsz Bingo)
  • Blazesoft
  • Modo
  • Funzpoints
  • Baba Casino
  • Spree
  • Ace
  • Peak Play
  • Ruby Sweeps
  • B-Two announced Maine exit effective July 15

Iowa Restrictions Expand

Iowa appeared on fewer lists than Indiana or Maine, but still attracted additional operator restrictions during June. While not an explicit ban, the state passed a law that gives regulators clearer authority to issue cease-and-desist orders and seek injunctive relief against unlicensed operators.

Operators adding Iowa during June:

  • High 5 Casino
  • Baba Casino
  • Peak Play
  • Ruby Sweeps
  • LuckyBits Vegas
  • Lucky Bunny

Other Exits, Entries, and Market Changes

In addition to Indiana, Iowa, and Maine, some operators updated their terms to include additional eligibility changes.

Additional state restrictions:

  • B-Two announced Tennessee exits effective July 13.
  • Blazesoft added Illinois.
  • Rolling Riches added Utah.
  • Smiles Casino added Tennessee.
  • Clubs Casino and Clubs Poker added Tennessee.
  • Shuffle restricted Illinois to Gold Coin play.
  • Peak Play added Kentucky.

Market changes:

  • WOW Vegas, Rolla, and MetaWin added Canada.
  • Punt and Chanced removed West Virginia.
  • Speed Sweeps, Rich Sweeps, and Sweeps Royal removed Virginia.
  • Kick Games launched GetGud.win after shutting down Kickr earlier this year.

Legislative Tracker (2026)

Although June brought relatively little legislative activity, 2026 has already proven to be a busy year for sweepstakes regulation.

States passing restrictions in 2026:

  • Indiana (effective July 1)
  • Maine (effective July 15)
  • Tennessee (effective)
  • Louisiana (effective Aug. 1)
  • Oklahoma (effective Nov. 1)
  • Iowa (expanded enforcement authority)

Bills that Failed

  • Florida
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts
  • Minnesota
  • Mississippi
  • Virginia

Washington, DC Bill Still Under Consideration

The only active bill to ban sweepstakes casinos remains in Washington, D.C.

At the beginning of May, the D.C. Council heard B26-0656, which would legalize online casinos and ban sweepstakes casinos. The measure has not been scheduled for further hearings or seen any activity since.

The legislative calendar for the D.C. Council runs until the end of the year, so chances of passage remain.

Where Are Sweeps Casinos Banned?

The number of states restricting sweepstakes casinos continued to grow in 2026.

In addition to Indiana, Maine, Tennessee, Louisiana, and Oklahoma, five states—California, Connecticut, Montana, New Jersey, and New York—enacted sweepstakes-specific restrictions during 2025.

Iowa and Nevada have instead strengthened enforcement against unlicensed gambling operators. Meanwhile, Idaho, Michigan, and Washington have long remained unavailable to most sweepstakes casinos due to existing laws or enforcement actions.

What to Watch Next Month

July is expected to bring another wave of operator withdrawals.

Several major companies, including VGW and Stake.us, have not yet announced plans to exit Indiana or Maine, but are likely to make decisions before the July deadlines. More exits are also likely from Iowa.

Attention will then shift to Louisiana, where operators may begin restricting access ahead of the state’s Aug. 1 prohibition.
