The New York State Gaming Commission reported on Friday that the eight mobile operators won back 11.2% of a $484.5-million handle during the week ending April 19. The $54.2 million in gross revenue during the first week of the NBA and NHL playoffs have helped make April an extremely profitable month.
Sportsbooks have already eclipsed $160 million in gross revenue with more than a week of betting still to report, putting them on pace to surpass last April when operators generated $192.7 million in monthly profits.
Between the two early postseasons and MLB, New York’s weekly handle remained below $500 million for the third time in the last four periods. Compared to the same week in 2025, dollars wagered were up 4.8%, while gross revenue spiked 100.7% year over year.
Making bank
FanDuel led all New York online sports betting operators with a $172.5-million handle, eclipsing $170 million for the seventh consecutive period, and a 13% hold led to $22.5 million in revenue.
DraftKings recorded a 10.5% hold on a $166.7-million handle to take home $17.5 million in gross revenue. The online operator fell just short of a double-digit win rate the previous week.
Mixed bag
Fanatics Sportsbook generated the third-highest handle at $57.5 million, but the operator produced the lowest hold at 5.3%, leading to its lowest weekly profit yet in April. BetMGM continued its recent bounce-back trend with an 11.3% hold on a $31.9-million handle that led to a second consecutive week with over $3 million in winnings.
Caesars reached a hold of 10.7% on a $31.5-million handle. BetRivers finished second in the state for the week with an 11.4 win rate on a $9.8-million handle, while theScore Bet struggled with a 5.4% hold on over $10.6 million in bets. Bally Bet won back 5.8% on a $3.9-million handle.
