Morocco proved they belong in the elite tier of World Cup odds favorites after holding powerhouse Brazil to a draw in their opener. Now, the reigning African champions look to cement that status as clear betting favorites against Scotland.

Expect their class to shine through tonight, which is exactly why my Morocco vs. Scotland predictions have the Atlas Lions securing a crucial three points.

Read on for my World Cup picks for Friday, June 19, with kickoff at 6:00 p.m. ET on FOX.

 TOP PICK
Who will win Morocco vs Scotland: Morocco (-142)

Scotland might top the group thanks to playing Haiti, not Brazil, in their opener, but after the first set of games, it’s Morocco who are the team to beat.

At times in that 1-1 draw, the Moroccans gave Brazil a soccer lesson. This is a team that is incredibly hard-working. They press persistently from the front, use their fullbacks to devastating effect to overload attacks, and have a young midfielder in Ayyoub Bouaddi who put up one of the performances of the World Cup so far.

Meanwhile, the Scots toiled to a 1-0 win over Haiti in a game that was evenly split in terms of possession, with Haiti actually having more shots and finishing with a better xG.

As well as taking Morocco to win, you’re also getting incredible value on the spread (-1.5 +228). Morocco has the technical ability to dictate play and keep the ball, forcing a tiring Scottish team to work even harder off the ball in the heat.

Morocco’s ability to thread balls through Brazil’s backline can be replicated here, and if it is, then the reigning AFCON champs take all three points and win by two or more goals.

Morocco vs Scotland Over/Under pick: Under 2.5 (-154)

One thing that can be said about this Scotland team is that they work hard, and that gets them a long way, especially against superior teams. That hard work alone probably keeps this at 2-0, with Scotland knowing heavy defeats against Morocco and Brazil could cause an issue in qualifying for the next round. So if they’re two goals behind and the game is lost, it’s in their interest to really defend deep and stop Morocco from putting up a big score.

My preferred goal total bet is actually Scotland Under 0.5 goals (-117), and the reason that I think it’ll finish with Under 2.5 goals, despite Morocco scoring multiple goals.

They lack real spark in the middle of the field. Scott McTominay is an excellent player, but he thrives on power and physicality, something that won’t trouble the Moroccans. They limited Brazil to just eight shots and an xG of 0.36, and they can handle Che Adams and Lawrence Shankland, two players without dynamic pace.

Morocco vs Scotland goal scorer pick: Brahim Diaz (+220)

Ismael Saibari got the goal against Brazil, but he was tied for both shots and shots on target with Brahim Diaz, who offers a better value way to attack the goalscorer market.

Diaz might start on the right, but he uses Achraf Hakimi’s runs up the flank to create space in which he can move in behind or more centrally. That allows him to take up dangerous positions, as he did against the Brazilians. He’s also likely to take penalties that Morocco win, meaning that there’s an added layer of potential value by wagering on him.
