Algeria couldn’t cope with Messi’s fantastic hat-trick and lost 3-0 to Argentina, while Jordan were beaten 3-1 by Austria. The North Africans are more experienced and possess greater individual quality, and I think that will be evident in their match against Jordan.

Algeria arrived at the World Cup as one of Africa’s leading contenders, thanks to an impressive qualifying campaign and the depth of their squad. They lost 3-0 to Argentina in their opening match, but had it not been for Messi’s brilliance, the outcome could have been very different.
So don’t be too quick to judge their chances. With players such as Riyad Mahrez, Amine Gouiri, Mohammed Amoura and Rayan Aït-Nouri, Algeria possess the kind of quality that few teams can match.
Jordan are organized and capable of frustrating opponents, but the gap in attacking quality between the two sides is significant. Algeria’s pre-World Cup run included a 1-0 victory over the Netherlands, a 0-0 draw with Uruguay, and an emphatic 7-0 win over Guatemala.
I believe Jordan, who are without a win in their last nine matches, will struggle to contain Algeria’s attacking threat. I’m backing the North Africans to take all three points.
