Fanatics Sportsbook is changing the parlay game with a combination feature for the team-minded bettor.

Key Takeaways

  • Squad Bets puts customers in a general manager-like role.
  • Unlike traditional player prop parlays, stats from a group of players help the bettor hit a scoring target.
  • The new feature launched on Tuesday.

The online sports betting operator launched “Squad Bets” on Tuesday, allowing customers to utilize a group of players like a general manager. The feature goes beyond parlaying multiple player props together.

If a user selects five players to combine for 100 points in an NBA game, or a group of running backs to score five touchdowns, the total scored by all selected participants in their respective games counts toward the parlay payout.

“Squad Bets introduces a fundamentally new way to parlay,” said Michael Fitzsimmons, SVP of Brand Marketing at Fanatics Sportsbook.

“By shifting the focus from individual legs to collective squad achievement, Squad Bets delivers a more personalized betting experience and one that mirrors how fans experience sports.”

Shifting the focus

Squad Bets allows users to build a team of three to six players. Instead of having a traditional parlay leg fail because Aaron Judge didn’t hit a home run, the bet isn’t over if the rest of the group of players selected reach the designated target.

Other Fanatics features will combine with Squad Bets. These innovative parlays will count toward FanCash earnings.

Fair Play Injury Protection will be activated in team-building mode, so if a squad member goes down, it won’t wreck the entire wager.

Fanatics operates its online sportsbook in 23 U.S. states and Washington, D.C.

Sport and stat availability

The NBA, MLB, NHL, NFL, and major soccer events are set to be part of Squad Bets, and bettors can track their stats live from the Fanatics app.

For basketball, users can set targets and build teams for points, rebounds, assists, and 3-pointers. With the MLB season beginning this week, Squad Bets baseball markets include strikeouts, runs, home runs, hits, RBIs, and total bases.

Hockey bettors can build teams around goals, points, assists, and shots. This upcoming football season will allow users to combine players for touchdowns, receptions, receiving yards, rushing yards, passing yards, and passing touchdowns.

When soccer becomes available, markets will be limited to goals and shots.
